What is Cosmo Networks?

Cosmo Networks, a brand by Tanaza, is a selection of white-box WiFi access points for professional, medium and large-scale, WLAN deployments.

Selected global manufacturers provide the Cosmo Networks’ hardware. Furthermore, it comes with the TanazaOS operating system already installed in the access points. This approach allows optimizing hardware costs while delivering high levels of operational efficiency.

What is Tanaza?

Tanaza is an Italian based company that developed the first cloud-based platform to manage WiFi networks. This platform works with multiple hardware vendors, and also all Cosmo Networks access points.

What is Tanaza’s business model?

Tanaza provides its Tanaza platform as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). It supports a lifetime, per-device licensing model, which means that every access point managed in the Tanaza platform requires a license.

Is Cosmo Networks a wireless access point vendor?

Cosmo Networks is not a vendor. It’s a curated selection of access points by Tanaza, a software company. When you place an order on Cosmo Networks’ website, you are buying hardware from a Tanaza’s global manufacturing partner and Tanaza’s software.

This type of disaggregation gives customers the freedom to choose hardware and software operating systems from different vendors. Tanaza has made this possible through Cosmo Networks, in partnership with global manufacturers.

Is Cosmo Networks the right option for me?

If you are an MSP, small or medium Enterprise, needing to deploy and manage a large number of access points, and also:

  • Want to optimize the costs of hardware
  • Would like Tanaza’s cloud-based software to manage WiFi networks
  • Do not need to receive the access points within 24 hours
  • Optionally, use your company logo on the access points

Then Cosmo Networks is the right solution for you. However, if you only need a small number of access points or getting them shipped right away, we recommend purchasing compatible off-the-shelf devices and install Tanaza WiFi cloud management software.

PLACING AN ORDER

What’s included in the price?

The price per access point published on the website includes both the hardware and the software license. However, there is a minimum order quantity (MOQ) to get the price listed on the website. Yet, if you order a sample device for evaluation purposes, the price per device will be higher (see question ‘Can I order only one access point?’).

The prices listed on our site do not reflect the added costs for shipment and taxes. If you would like to know these costs, please request a quote, and we will get in touch as soon as possible.

How do I place my order?

You can place your order by requesting a quote on the Cosmo Networks’ website. Alternatively, you can write an email to team@tanaza.com, and a dedicated consultant in Tanaza will reach out to provide you with a quote. Then, if you are satisfied with the price quote, you can confirm the order and proceed with the payment.

How many access points can I buy?

Cosmo Networks’ goal is to optimize the hardware costs for medium and large-scale deployments. Cost optimization is accomplished by manufacturing the exact amount of access points you need and having them shipped to you from the manufacturer.

For this reason, when you place an order, you will need to request at least the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) per device model required. The typical MOQ is 100, 500, or 1000 units – this information is available for each model.

If you wish to evaluate the product before placing a bulk order, you can order a ‘sample device’; however, the price would be higher (see the next question).

Can I order only one access point?

It is possible to order individual access points, called sample devices, to evaluate the product. In this way, you can test the product and validate that it satisfies your requirements before placing a bulk order.

When ordering sample devices, you should consider:

  1. The price per access point is higher than the price when placing a bulk order (see previous question).
  2. Sample devices are shipped faster than bulk orders. Usually, delivery time is one week, as there is no need to wait for the manufacturing process. 

How do I order accessories for the access points?

Each access point’s datasheet will include the list of compatible accessories and related part numbers. When requesting a quote, feel free to specify which accessories you’d like to have included.

SHIPPING AND DELIVERY TIME

Who will ship the access points?

Tanaza will route the order to the manufacturing partner, who will ship the access points directly to the customer’s premises.

When ordering sample devices, Tanaza ships them directly to the customer.

 How long does it take to get my order?

Manufacturing the access points usually takes 2 to up 6 weeks, depending on the specific manufacturer selected. Shipping times may take 1-week (via air) + 2 days for customs clearance. 

The lead time will be confirmed when providing the quote as it may change based on manufacturing partner selection and availability of components.

Sample devices will be delivered faster (see question ‘Can I order only one access point’).

What are the shipping options?

For bulk orders, the standard method is via air. It’s also possible to have orders shipped via sea. Different shipping options might increase or reduce delivery time and costs.

How much does the shipping cost?

Shipping costs depend on the delivery method selected. You will find an estimate of the shipping costs in the quote.

How much do I have to pay in taxes?

The import taxes depend on the specific country from which you are ordering.

WARRANTY AND SUPPORT

Who provides technical support?

Tanaza provides support on the software and routes hardware related issues to the manufacturer, intermediating if needed.

Whom should I contact if I need assistance with my hardware?

You can contact the Tanaza Support Center (see the previous question).

How long is the warranty?

The warranty on the hardware is typically 12 months. We recommend reading the exact duration for a specific hardware model on its datasheet.

Who provides the warranty?

The hardware manufacturer provides the warranty on the hardware.

What is your return policy?

If you may wish to return the hardware, you can do it within 30 (thirty) calendar days from the reception date. You need to request a return authorization to Tanaza Support Center. Please provide your order number, description of items you wish to return and a reason for return. If the return request is approved, you will receive an email containing special instructions and the address to send the return to.

However if you receive a defective, damaged device or the item does not match the description provided in our website you may be entitled to a full refund.

SOFTWARE AND LICENSE

What is the firmware on Cosmo Networks’ access points?

The Cosmo Networks’ devices come with the TanazaOS platform already installed. TanazaOS is a cutting-edge Linux-based Operating System, optimized for cloud-based networks.

The Tanaza team actively maintains TanazaOS, ensuring that it delivers perfect stability and includes the latest security patches, making it suitable for production environments.

Is the Tanaza software license included in the Cosmo Networks hardware?

Yes, always. Any quote provided by our consultants will include both the software and the hardware as separate items.

Can I change the default firmware of Cosmo Networks’ access points?

No. Cosmo Networks is the hardware ‘vehicle’ that allows you to use the Tanaza platform, enabling a smooth and integrated out-of-the-box experience. If you want to use a different operating system, maybe Cosmo Networks is not the right choice for you.

Why should I use Tanaza and not other management systems?

Other management systems are vertically integrated and designed to create a full lock-in on hardware with customers. Tanaza is the only software in the market that gives you the flexibility to choose from our compatibility list, the device of your preference to deploy WiFi networks. You can mix hardware vendors and manage all devices from our cloud-managed platform.

If you are using Cisco Meraki or Ubiquiti software and need a new device, unfortunately, you have no other choice than buying hardware from the same vendors. That limits your flexibility when selecting access points, and makes it challenging to manage all your deployments from a single platform and scale operations.

If you do not like to feel constrained, remember, you can use Tanaza with any device of the Cosmo Networks selection, or with off-the-shelf access points compatible with the TanazaOS operating system.

CUSTOMIZATION

Can I manage Cosmo Networks’ access points onsite instead of managing them in the cloud?

Unfortunately, you can’t. Cloud is easier to use. It delivers greater scalability, operational efficiency, security updates, continuous feature upgrade, flexibility to enable add-ons, and interoperability with other systems. If you prefer to manage devices onsite, we recommend adopting a traditional system, based on a local hardware controller.

Can I have a private cloud to manage my access points?

At the moment, Tanaza does not provide this option.

Can I white label the access points?

Yes. Cosmo Networks’ access points are ready to be customized with your company logo so that you can provide managed services using your brand.

If I can customize the logo on the access points, can I do the same with the cloud software?

At this stage, the Tanaza cloud-based WiFi management software does not allow this option. However, this feature is currently under consideration.
